This week, we started the first run of our 2020 Plant Machinery Marshal [Plant Banksman] Training & Assessment under NPORS

We first rolled out this unique delivery in 2017, when our training team won the NFB Award for Training Excellence, having created a very bespoke package in response to a client having had an incident involving mobile plant on site

The NPORS programme was delivered and coupled with a bespoke module to enable the candidates to experience the view from the cab of a 360 excavator.  For banksmen who do not operate plant machinery, we found this really helped them appreciate  how restricted the view from the cab can be – which can contribute to incidents involving plant machinery on site

Whilst mobile plant is typically operated by men on site, the girls at FACT are all qualified plant operators and we never miss an opportunity to demonstrate our competency!  Before any machine is commissioned to start training, we carry out our pre-flight inspection to include checking levels and condition of tracks or tyres.  We also make sure the lights, brakes and amber beacon are all in good working order

With a full suite of affordable, NPORS accredited courses involving mobile plant machinery, there is no reason why you cannot master your own ‘weapon of mass construction‘ and you may even be eligible for CITB Skills & Training Funding!
